thanksgiving and other things

for thanksgiving we went to orcas island. we saw strange birds, lots and lots of fog, and water. we walked along the pebbly beach and followed a few trails but nothing serious–i didn’t bring proper hiking shoes. we stayed warm by the fire and watched a ton of movies. it was one of the most gorgeous places i’ve been to in a while.

i made a thanksgiving feast: tofu turkey (from scratch, not that store-bought garbage, bleh!) a green bean casserole, cranberry chutney, rolls (not homemade), mashed potatoes & gravy (brian made them, they were delicious), stuffing and of course pumpkin pie.

we ate at Vern’s (where the locals eat) for fried food the next night. they gave us the crappy fries and gave the good ones to the locals. the crappy fries were still good though.

one announcement i’d like to make about ice cream, is that we discovered the best ice cream of the pacific northwest during that trip. it’s lopez island creamery ice cream.  i haven’t tried their flavors other than vanilla but, wow, i was impressed.

in other news, i am developing a new blog that will be hair-centric. i’ve got the page but i haven’t finished setting it up. i have so many things running through my brain right now. i need to organize my thoughts before i start posting. i’ll post a link once it’s up and running.
